Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Obinagu Uwani Akpugo, popularly known as Akpugo Ward One in Enugu State, have unanimously endorsed Nwodo Friday Paul as the party’s consensus candidate ahead of the 2026 Local Government Council Elections.
The endorsement was made on Saturday, May 23, 2026, during an extensive closed-door meeting held at the community town hall and attended by party stakeholders and leaders from the ward.
According to the stakeholders, the decision to adopt Hon. Nwodo Friday Paul as consensus candidate was based on his record of honesty, humility, and commitment to community development, particularly his contributions toward youth empowerment and grassroots mobilization within the community.
Party leaders also highlighted his years of service in various leadership positions within the community and political space. His previous roles include serving as the pioneer Youth Chairman of Umunnam Ekpene and Agom Nevo, former Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area, Secretary of the Town Union Caretaker Committee, and National President of Umuonovo Ubuchi Ekpene, among other responsibilities.
Hon. Nwodo, who is currently pursuing a Master of Science (M.Sc) degree, expressed appreciation to the APC stakeholders and members of Akpugo Ward One for the confidence reposed in him.
In his acceptance speech, he thanked the leadership and members of the APC in Obinagu Uwani Akpugo for the unanimous endorsement and pledged to provide effective, efficient, and purposeful representation if elected as councillor during the forthcoming local government elections.
He further assured members of the community of his commitment to inclusive leadership, grassroots development, and policies that would positively impact the people of the ward.
The endorsement is expected to strengthen APC’s grassroots mobilization efforts in the ward as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2026 local government elections in the state.
