Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, Nigeria’s Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, has resigned amid allegations of certificate forgery.
His resignation was confirmed on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, who stated that the President has accepted Nnaji’s decision to step down.
“President Tinubu accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, following certain allegations against him,” Onanuga said.
Appointed in August 2023, Nnaji reportedly submitted his resignation in a letter expressing gratitude to the President for the opportunity to serve the country.
In the letter, the former Minister claimed he had been the target of political blackmail.
President Tinubu thanked Nnaji for his service and extended his best wishes for the future.
