The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has once again reduced the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.
Findings by our correspondent in Abuja on Monday revealed that NNPCL retail outlets have adjusted the price downward to ₦815 per litre from the previous ₦835, representing a ₦20 reduction.
The new price regime has taken effect at NNPCL filling stations located in Wuse Zones 4 and 6, along the Keffi–Abuja Road, and on the Kubwa Expressway. A station attendant, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the price adjustment was implemented on Sunday evening.
Despite the reduction, the ₦815 per litre pump price remains ₦79 higher than the ₦739 per litre currently sold at MRS filling stations nationwide, which are supplied by the Dangote Refinery.
It will be recalled that on December 19, 2025, NNPCL had reduced the price of petrol by ₦80 to ₦835 per litre. That adjustment followed intensified competition in the downstream oil sector, triggered by Dangote Refinery’s decision to cut its gantry price to ₦699 per litre.
