ABUJA - President Bola Tinubu has formally sought the Senate’s approval to obtain a $516,333,070 external loan to fund the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway project.

The request was conveyed in a letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and presented during Thursday’s plenary session.

In the letter, the President stated that the loan, to be sourced from Deutsche Bank, is part of an existing borrowing plan already approved for the construction of the 1,000-kilometre highway.

He also appealed to the Senate for prompt consideration to facilitate timely execution of the project.

Following its presentation, the Senate President referred the request to the Committee on Local and Foreign Debts for further review, directing it to submit its report within one week.
