The Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) is set to host its 46th inaugural lecture, which promises to be a landmark event in the academic calendar of the institution.
The lecture, titled "The Travails of the Minor of Minors in Our Resource-Limited Settings: Unveiling the Neglected Roadmap to Addressing the Giant and Taming the Tide," will be delivered by Prof. Uchenna Ekwochi, a globally respected scholar and Professor of Pediatrics and Neonatology.
In a press statement signed by the university registrar, Mr. Ambrose Ugwu, the university’s 46th inaugural lecture is slated for Thursday, 8 May, at the ESUT College of Medicine Auditorium, Parklane GRA, Enugu.
According to the statement, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Aloysius Michaels-Okolie, was excited to invite members of the public, particularly stakeholders in the medical profession and policymakers to attend the all-important event as it would contribute in the advancement of medical research and break new frontiers in the field.
Prof. Ekwochi, is a distinguished academic and medical professional with a wealth of experience in pediatrics and neonatology, is the Provost of the university’s college of medicine.
He has presented numerous academic papers and delivered research articles at conferences both in Nigeria and abroad, some of which include, Co-inventor of NUA Tape: A patented innovation for identifying and caring for low-birth-weight babies, National Trainer in Newborn Health: Participated in developing newborn action plans for Enugu and Ebonyi states, sponsored by UNICEF.
He was a member, Enugu State Council on Prerogative of Mercy, reflecting his commitment to public service and healthcare development in the society.
The lecture aims to address critical issues affecting the most vulnerable members of society, particularly the newborns, and will propose sustainable solutions in resource-limited settings.
It will also serve as a platform for medical professionals and policymakers to engage on concerns and challenges relating to maternal and child health growth and reducing newborn mortality.
With Prof. Ekwochi's expertise and experience, the much-anticipated lecture is expected to be a thought-provoking and enlightening experience for all attendees.
