Popular Afrobeats artiste David Adeleke, known professionally as Davido, has restated his position on the long-standing paternity claim involving a 12-year-old girl, Mitchelle Anuoluwapo, insisting he is not her biological father.

The singer’s reaction followed a public appeal by the minor, who requested a DNA test to confirm her identity as she approaches her teenage years. Davido, however, maintained that the matter had already been resolved, revealing that he had undergone five DNA tests at different hospitals, all of which returned negative results.

“I have taken five DNA tests, and I am not her father,” Davido wrote, adding that he never had any personal relationship with the girl’s mother apart from the DNA testing process.

Mitchelle, who described herself as Davido’s “oldest daughter,” said her request was driven by a desire to establish clarity about her identity. In an emotional message shared online, she recounted years of bullying and emotional distress allegedly linked to the disputed paternity.

According to her, she has faced ridicule since childhood for claiming the award-winning musician as her father, an experience she said affected her mental health and required professional care. She also disclosed that her mother advised her to stay away from social media for several years so she could focus on her education.

“As I grow older, I want to establish my identity,” she wrote, explaining that she often returned home in tears after being mocked by classmates.

In her appeal, the young girl respectfully asked Davido to agree to a DNA test to conclusively determine her paternity.

Davido, however, responded firmly, expressing frustration over what he described as recurring and unfounded claims. He stated that he would not address the issue again publicly, noting that while he does not blame the child, he believes responsibility lies with the girl’s mother.

The renewed exchange has continued to generate widespread reactions online, with Nigerians expressing mixed views - some showing sympathy for the child, while others urged respect for the DNA test results already cited by the singer.
