A frontline political figure and grassroots mobilizer, Chidiebere Aniagu, has officially announced his decision to align with the Young Progressives Party (YPP), describing the move as a strategic step towards credible leadership, political stability, and inclusive governance.

Aniagu, an aspirant seeking to represent the people of Enugu North/South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, made the disclosure in a statement addressed to his supporters, friends, and political associates ahead of his formal declaration ceremony scheduled for tomorrow at Treasure Point Hall by 1pm.

According to him, the political journey leading to the decision was built on “loyalty, sacrifice, consultations, patience, and unwavering belief in the vision of better representation for the people.”

He appreciated members of his political structure for their steadfast support throughout consultations, strategic meetings, and political engagements, noting that their commitment remained the backbone of the movement.

Speaking on the decision to join YPP, Aniagu explained that his team carefully assessed the evolving political landscape, including movements around the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and later developments involving the NDC, before arriving at what he described as a more stable and credible platform.

He further stated that lingering internal crises and the existence of multiple executive structures within some political platforms made it necessary to seek an alternative capable of offering long-term political focus and stability.

Aniagu also referenced his indirect working relationship with Enugu state government through the Road Transport Employees Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), saying the circumstance required a political platform free from unnecessary governorship-related complications and distractions.

Describing YPP as a growing political movement, he said the party has continued to gain respect across political divides due to its consistency, youth inclusiveness, and the quality of candidates it produces nationwide.

“We deliberately kept this move away from the public for some time because of the hostile political environment where platforms with prospects and notable candidates are often subjected to pressure and intimidation,” the statement read.

Aniagu therefore called on supporters, stakeholders, and well-wishers to attend the official unveiling ceremony, describing it as “a great and bold beginning” for the movement.

The declaration event is expected to attract political stakeholders, youth groups, supporters, and members of the public from across the region.
