Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, on Sunday publicly apologised to Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, kneeling before his congregation as he sought forgiveness over a controversy that has dominated social media in recent weeks.

The apology followed a heated public dispute in which Ogala accused the cleric of an alleged affair, unfulfilled marriage promises, emotional manipulation, and sharing explicit content. She also alleged that Okafor offered her $10,000 to retract claims that she was hired by rival pastors to defame him.

In a viral video shared on Sunday, Okafor was seen addressing his congregation from the pulpit, admitting that mistakes had been made and tendering an apology to those he said he had offended.

“I am sorry to everyone I have offended, to Doris Ogala also. I say sorry and apologise to everybody,” he said, adding that he was ready to make restitution where necessary.

Acknowledging his imperfections, the pastor stated that he had never claimed to be perfect before kneeling before the congregation and asking for forgiveness and prayers. His action drew cheers from members of the church.

Despite the public apology, Okafor maintained that several allegations levelled against him were untrue, insisting that some of the claims contained falsehoods. This position appeared to further fuel the controversy.

Ogala, responding during an Instagram Live session, said she had forgiven the pastor but rejected his assertion that her allegations were lies, insisting she did not fabricate her claims.

The controversy intensified earlier this month after Ogala accused Okafor of promising to marry her and allegedly influencing the breakdown of her previous relationship. The accusations resurfaced following Okafor’s wedding to his new bride, identified as Pearl, which reportedly took place earlier in the week.

Ogala has claimed that the relationship spanned several years and began around 2017, alleging that she suffered emotional distress after it ended abruptly. Okafor had earlier dismissed the allegations and said he would leave the matter to legal authorities.

However, sustained public attention and Ogala’s continued public response appear to have prompted the cleric’s decision to issue a public apology.
