It was another day of massive solidarity and grassroots mobilisation in Enugu South Local Government Area as members and leaders of the Tomorrow Is Here Movement (THM), led by Chief Tony Okonkwo, alongside teeming faithful of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Villagers, Community leaders, market women, clergymen declared unwavering support for the second-term ambitions of Peter Mbah and Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The event, which held at Eke Otu Primary School Field in Enugu South LGA, featured the inauguration of local government and ward coordinators of the movement.
Proceedings commenced at about 2:30 p.m. with the national anthem, introduction of leaders and stakeholders, and an opening prayer by Pastor Chimaobi Aninwene.
The gathering was further energized by the arrival of the Secretary to the Enugu State Government (SSG), Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, who also represented Governor Mbah at the event and also hails from the local government area.
In his opening remarks, the Coordinator of THM in Enugu South LGA, Rt. Hon. Kenneth Obinna Ani, expressed delight over the massive turnout and declared emphatically that the movement was fully prepared to deliver victory for Governor Mbah and President Tinubu in 2027.
The Chairman of Enugu South LGA, Hon. Caleb Ani, commended the movement for its grassroots mobilisation and praised Prof. Onyia for consistently identifying with his people. He described Governor Mbah as one of the best leaders in the history of the state and assured that Enugu South would stand solidly behind him in 2027.
Similarly, the Acting APC Chairman in the LGA, Hon. Freedom Nnam, pledged the party’s readiness to secure victory for Governor Mbah.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Onyia made it clear that the second-term ambitions of Governor Mbah and President Tinubu were non-negotiable. He highlighted key achievements of the Mbah administration, including Construction of 260 smart schools and hospitals across the 260 wards, reconstruction and completion of the Presidential Hotel, revitalisation of the International Conference, reconstruction and construction of major roads and other abandoned state assets
He described THM as the most vibrant grassroots support group of the administration and declared himself an associate member of the movement. He glowingly praised the leadership of the Movement, led by Chief Okonkwo for their commitment and unalloyed loyalty to the mission and vision of Governor Mbah's administration.
The Deputy Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly and Deputy President of THM, Rt. Hon. Prince Ezenta Ezeani, conducted interactive question-and-answer sessions to assess participants’ awareness of government achievements, rewarding them with financial tokens. He stated that Governor Mbah was the first governor in the state’s history to execute projects in all 260 wards, describing the feat as unparalleled.
Also speaking, the Zonal Coordinator of THM Enugu East Senatorial Zone, Alhaji Sani Friday Nnaji (Consultant on Agriculture to the State Government), urged total support for Governor Mbah’s reelection bid.
Formally inaugurating the coordinators, Chief Hon. Tony Okonkwo (Ugwumba), President of THM, charged them to mobilise effectively, describing Governor Mbah’s achievements as a strong brand for 2027. He elaborated on the smart school project, emphasizing free tuition, feeding, and transportation, and urged parents to safeguard public projects.
The event concluded with closing remarks by Rt. Hon. Princess Obiajulu Ugwu, Member representing Enugu South Rural State Constituency, Deputy Whip of the House of Assembly, and Director of Protocol, THM. She also engaged women groups in an interactive session and rewarded them with financial tokens.
Mr. David Nnamoko, JP, Southeast Regional Manager of Moniepoint, was conferred with the honour of THM Ambassador in Enugu South LGA.
