Pacesetter Frontier Magazine, organizers of the Frontier Discourse Annual Public Lecture Series and Awards have unveiled renowned Professor, Udenta O. Udenta as a speaker at the 5th Frontier Discourse Annual Public Lecture Series and Awards holding in Abuja.
In a statement issued in Abuja by Dabere Egbo, Managing Editor of the magazine, Udenta will take the lead in the delivery of the Keynote Lecture.
Recall that Frontier Discourse was launched in 2021 as a platform to bridge the communication gap between African leaders and citizens. The initiative aims to foster public-private sector dialogue, review pressing policy issues, and celebrate individuals who have made impactful contributions to Africa’s development.

About Prof. Udenta O. Udenta
Professor Udenta O. Udenta is a distinguished scholar of African and comparative literature, cultural studies, and aesthetic theory. He is a Professor of Cultural Studies and Creative Writing.
He currently serves as a Director of Strategy and Communications at the Centre for Alternative Policy Perspectives and Strategy, Abuja. He's also the Director General of the African Writers Institute, Abuja. Formerly a Senior Research Fellow in African Studies and Senior Lecturer at Abia State University, Uturu, Prof. Udenta has also undertaken advanced training at institutions such as the University of Bradford (UK), University of Melbourne (Australia), Massey University (New Zealand), Singapore Mediation Centre, the US Institute of Peace (Washington D.C.), IGAD (Ethiopia), and the Institute of Security Studies (South Africa). His areas of specialization include conflict indicators and early warning signals, restorative justice, and post-conflict reconstruction.
A prolific author and editor, Prof. Udenta has published over 21 books and presented more than 100 papers at national and international forums. His notable works include Crisis of Theory in Contemporary Nigerian Literature, Revolutionary Aesthetics and the African Literary Process, Art, Ideology and Social Commitment in African Poetry, Heroism and Critical Consciousness in African Literature, Autonomy of Values, and Democratic Transformation and Social Change in Nigeria, among others. His six-volume collection of creative works from his early years further showcases his diverse literary talent.
Beyond academia, Prof. Udenta is a Distinguished Fellow at the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought. Between 1998 and 2009, he consulted for leading international organizations such as the World Bank, DFID, UNDP, EU Nigeria Mission, USAID, IRI, NDI, IFES, Global Rights, IDASA, the British Foreign Office, and the Konrad Adenauer and Friedrich Ebert Foundations on projects ranging from democratic institution building to conflict mitigation and civil society development.
A veteran pro-democracy and civil rights activist, Prof. Udenta was at the forefront of the resistance against General Sani Abacha’s regime under the banners of the Eastern Mandate Union (EMU) and NADECO. Detained several times for his activism, he was released after Abacha’s death in 1998 and went on to serve as National Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) during Nigeria’s Fourth Republic transition. An alumnus of the US State Department’s International Leadership Visitors Programme, he has addressed global audiences in countries including Germany, the Netherlands, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Ethiopia, and the United States.
A native of Mgbowo in Awgu LGA of Enugu State, Nigeria, Prof. Udenta O. Udenta is married to Princess Vivian Udenta, and they are blessed with two sons.
