Enugu - The Dorcas Sustainable Global Initiative (DSGI) has celebrated its 8th anniversary in grand style, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to improving the lives of widows, orphans and other vulnerable members of society across Enugu State.

The anniversary ceremony attracted government officials, religious leaders, professionals and community stakeholders, who gathered to celebrate eight years of sustained humanitarian service, compassion and social empowerment championed by the foundation.

The event featured reflections on the vision, objectives and achievements of DSGI, alongside scriptural exhortations drawn from Genesis 3:12-17 and Genesis 20:15-18, which emphasized accountability, compassion, restoration and intercession - core values that define the foundation’s mission of restoring dignity and hope to the less privileged.

Over the years, the Dorcas Sustainable Global Initiative has implemented impactful programmes, including support for widows, orphans and indigent persons; scholarships for underprivileged students; food banks providing free meals; house rent and medical bill assistance for widows; empowerment through small-scale business grants and skills acquisition training; employment support; and regular seminars for widows and indigents.

In her address, the Convener and Founder, Hon. Mrs. Adaora Aneke, expressed deep appreciation to government representatives, partners, friends and family members for their continuous emotional, spiritual and material support. She described the foundation as a vision driven by compassion for widows and orphans, noting that its flagship annual outreaches hold every May 25 for orphans and December 20 for widows.

Mrs. Aneke disclosed that DSGI has successfully carried out outreach programmes in five local government areas of Enugu State - Enugu North, Enugu South, Ezeagu, Nkanu West and Nkanu East. She highlighted the most recent outreach on May 25, 2025, at Community Secondary School, Ngwo, where orphans received footwear, school bags, food items, clothes and snacks.

She also appreciated her husband, Chief Martin Aneke, for his unwavering support and extended warm greetings to the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

A highlight of the celebration was the presentation of awards to individuals recognized for their outstanding contributions to humanitarian service and community development. Strengthening future collaborations, the Hope Alive Foundation pledged partnership with DSGI, a commitment echoed by the Commissioner of Agriculture and other dignitaries present.

The 8th anniversary celebration concluded with renewed calls for partnerships and collective action, as stakeholders applauded the Dorcas Sustainable Global Initiative for its remarkable humanitarian impact, strong moral foundation and steadfast dedication to empowering widows, orphans and the indigent.
