Aspirant for the Enugu State House of Assembly, Ezeagu Constituency, Ebube Nebo (JP), has raised concerns over the alleged intimidation and victimization of some youths following their support for his political ambition under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Nebo made the allegation in a statement released after a meeting he held with youths from Ezeagu Local Government Area to present his vision for the constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, some individuals who attended the gathering were reportedly harassed and attacked because of their association with his aspiration, a situation he described as unhealthy for democratic practice and contrary to the spirit of unity in Ezeagu.

The Assembly hopeful warned against using politics as a tool for intimidation and division, insisting that every citizen has the constitutional right to freely support any candidate of choice without fear or harassment.

He maintained that political contests should be centred on ideas, development, and service to the people rather than hostility and suppression of opposing views.

Nebo said the primary responsibility of anyone seeking elective office should be to advance the welfare of the people through quality representation, impactful legislation, youth empowerment, and attraction of development projects to the constituency.

Speaking on his ambition, he said his decision to contest was inspired by years of active involvement in grassroots development, youth mobilization, and humanitarian support across communities in Ezeagu.

He listed some of his contributions to include support for indigent families, payment of school fees for students, youth empowerment initiatives, and participation in community development projects.

The aspirant further stated that his longstanding relationship with community leaders and residents has given him a deeper understanding of the challenges confronting the people, especially youths, traders, and farmers in the constituency.

While urging his supporters not to succumb to intimidation, Nebo called on political actors in Ezeagu to promote peace, tolerance, and mutual respect in the interest of unity and progress.

He reaffirmed his commitment to peaceful and issue-based politics, pledging to continue engaging communities and pursuing initiatives that would foster development and improve the living conditions of the people.

Nebo also emphasized that elections should not create unnecessary divisions among the people, stressing that the collective interest of Ezeagu must remain above political differences.
