ABUJA - The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party has expressed satisfaction with the outcome of its nationwide congresses, reaffirmed its zoning arrangement for national offices, and signalled readiness for its forthcoming national convention.
This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the party’s 107th NEC meeting held on Monday in Abuja, where party leaders deliberated on key organisational and electoral matters.
NEC ratified the reports of the Ward, Local Government Area (LGA), State, and Zonal Congresses, commending party leaders, electoral committees, and members for ensuring peaceful, transparent, and credible exercises across the country. The committee noted that the successful conduct of the congresses reflects growing internal cohesion and adherence to due process within the party.
On membership mobilisation, NEC reviewed the ongoing electronic registration of members and applauded the progress recorded so far. It reiterated its commitment to building a credible, technology-driven membership database and urged party faithful nationwide to actively participate in the exercise.
The committee also affirmed the party’s zoning formula for national elective positions, describing it as consistent with its principles of equity, fairness, inclusiveness, and national balance. The arrangement, it said, will guide the forthcoming national convention.
NEC further disclosed that the sale of nomination forms for the convention has commenced, advising all interested aspirants to strictly adhere to the approved guidelines and timelines issued by the party.
Reaffirming its preparedness for the convention, NEC directed all relevant organs and committees to ensure seamless coordination for a successful, credible, and transparent exercise. It also unveiled the theme of the convention as “A Convention of Inclusiveness, Unity and Renewal.”
The committee stressed the supremacy of the party and called on members to remain united, disciplined, and committed to the collective interest of the PDP.
In its conclusion, NEC expressed confidence in the renewed strength and organisational capacity of the party, assuring Nigerians of its readiness to provide purposeful leadership and national direction.
The communiqué was jointly signed by Abdulrahman Mohammed, Chairman of the PDP National Caretaker Working Committee, and Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, Secretary of the committee.
