A prominent public affairs commentator and publisher, Hon. Prince Humphrey Onyima (Ebube Mgbowo), has called on Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State to prioritize the establishment of the Enugu State Farm Estates Project in border communities across the three senatorial districts.
In a statement issued on Monday, Onyima urged the governor to clear forested border areas and convert them into organized farm estates, noting that such an approach would help tackle security challenges in rural communities.
According to him, deploying forest guards to protect and manage the proposed farm estates would enhance surveillance, discourage criminal hideouts, and ultimately strengthen security around border flashpoints.
He added that beyond improving security, the initiative would stimulate massive employment, increase agricultural productivity, and boost the state’s internally generated revenue through commercial farming activities.
“This will help to fight insecurity in rural areas and, in turn, provide employment and earn Enugu State more revenue from farm produce while boosting the state's food production capacity,” Onyima stated.
He described his suggestion as a “humble advice” to Governor Mbah, expressing confidence in the administration’s commitment to transforming the state.
“A New Enugu State is possible,” he emphasized.
